Located on the south side of the Tagus River estuary in the Port of Lisbon, it is dedicated to the reception of agricultural bulk foods in transhipment operations, from Panamax ships to Handysize ships bound for other ports in the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, and the autonomous regions of Madeira and the Azores. 

It is also involved in the unloading of ocean-going ships whose products are stored and shipped, either by road, bound for the national market or the Spanish hinterland, or by river to other piers of the Port of Lisbon.

It has a storage capacity of 200,000 MT, with phytosanitary checks of the products in stock. It has the capacity to dispatch up to about 10,000 tons of various products per day by road.

Pier No. 1 can accommodate ships up to 280 m LOA, without limits on draught except for the access restriction of the Lisbon port sand bank (about 14 m). 

Pier No. 2 can accommodate ships with up to 200 m LOA and 12,5 m draught. It also has a dock for loading ships and another for loading barges. 

All unloaded products are sent to electronic scales, whether destined for storage or for dispatch by sea to other ports, or by barges destined for other piers of the Port of Lisbon, namely to the Port Terminal of Beato or to the industrial units located in the Tagus estuary.

It is equipped with a computer system for controlling the movement of products and stocks which also provides daily information to all customers, enabling the management of their stocks, their delivery orders, and the balances of their customers.
Products stored at the Terminal may benefit from the Type A Customs warehouse and temporary warehouse status.
It has a Food Safety Management System in accordance with the requirements of ISO 22000
